Top Used Jaguar Models

Jaguar cars have a long history of elegant styling and sporting performance. The brand was born in the United Kingdom, and goes hand in hand with old-world luxury of the British upper classes. Jaguar came under the ownership of Ford in 1990, and was then sold to Indian automaker Tata Motors in 2008. Despite these transactions Jaguar cars will always bear the unmistakable gleam of traditional English refinement. Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before switching to passenger cars. Jaguar cars are designed in an engineering centre at their headquarters in Coventry, England and are manufactured in one of two English Jaguar plants; Castle Bromwich in Birmingham and Halewood in Liverpool. Here are some of Jaguar's top used models.

Used Jaguar XJ

The Jaguar XJ sedans represent one of the best values among full-size used luxury cars. It offers features and comfort comparable to the top-line luxury sedans from Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz for thousands less.  For 2007, front and rear heated seats and Bluetooth wireless cell phone capability comes standard on all models. The XJ remains a true statement of luxury. Its cabin retains old English charm with lots of polished wood and wool rugs underfoot.  Driving a used Jaguar XJ is a smooth, quiet, stately and powerful experience, and it handles quite well for its size. The five XJ models are loaded with sophisticated safety and performance technology, but the technology is placed in a way that is free of distractions. The used XJs deliver the best EPA fuel mileage ratings in this class, and none carries a gas-guzzler tax. The 2007 XJ comes in regular and long-wheelbase versions. Consumers love the XJ, not for top of line speed or safety features, but for its straightforward ease of use and charm. Dual front airbags, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags are standard. Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes are standard, as are traction control and an electronic stability system.  XJ powertrains include a supercharged V-8, which propels the high-performance XJR from zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds. Standard engine includes a 4.2-liter V-8 with 300 horsepower and 310 pounds-feet of torque, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Used Jaguar X-Type

The Jaguar X-Type is an elegant, comfortable, and fun to drive used car. It is basically Jaguar's low cost entry choice and offers a good value. The Jaguar X-Type comes in a sedan or sportwagon. It has standard all-wheel drive, 16-inch alloy wheels, anti-lock brakes, and dynamic stability control. Used X-Types seats five people in its cabin, which includes Connolly leather with wood veneer or carbon-fiber trim. X-Types are powered by a 227 hp 3.0-liter V-6 that is controlled by a five-speed automatic transmission. The 2007 X-Type gives its owner the distinction of driving a Jaguar while offering the benefits of full-time all-wheel drive. The X-Type wagon offers great cargo carrying capacity, while the sedan is on the smaller size and is easy to maneuver and park. The X-Type is certified as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), meaning its exhaust is extremely clean. Acceleration of this used car with the 3.0-liter V-6 is vigorous, supremely confident and helped by crisp automatic-transmission operation. Exceptionally quiet, the X-Type exhibits evidence of solid, careful construction. The seats are comfortable and supportive. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control and steering-wheel controls for the stereo. X-Type's classic styling themes are familiar to Jaguar aficionados and include a traditional forward-leaning grille augmented by some sporty modern touches. Elliptical quad halogen headlights are installed, and fog lights are integrated into the lower front fascia. Jaguar's Dynamic Stability Control electronic stability system is standard.

Used Jaguar S-Type

The rear-wheel-drive Jaguar S-Type is a comfortable used car, it handles well, and it makes a statement on the road.  The S-Type, which is positioned between the company's compact X-Type and full-size XJ in size and price, makes a statement with its luxurious and crafted interior; effortless drive; and relaxed and refined ride. For 2007, it comes in three versions with distinct engines: a 3.0-liter V-6, a 4.2-liter V-8 or a supercharged V-8 for the S-Type R. A six-speed automatic transmission controls all the different engine versions. It comes standard with reverse park control, dual-zone climate control and an electrically adjustable steering column. Safety features on the used S-Type include side-impact and side curtain airbags; Adaptive Restraint Technology System; Antilock brakes include emergency brake assist; and Dynamic Stability Control.  Acceleration with the R's supercharged engine is smooth and easy, sending the sedan to passing speeds promptly and effortlessly. Furthermore, it yields a 0-to-60-mph acceleration time of 5.3 seconds. Jaguar's quality has been dramatically improved and the newer preowned S-Types are much better than other generations.  Five occupants fit inside all S-Types, and the driver faces chronograph-style dials. Like other Jaguar models, the S-Type gets a chrome mesh grille.

Used Jaguar XK

The Jaguar XK is a lightweight, aluminum 2+2 high performance sports car that is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V-8 that produces 300 horsepower. It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Its rigid chassis and the latest CATS adaptive suspension provides a smooth ride and demonic cornering, coupled with accurate steering and powerful brakes. The 2007 XK was completely redesigned, and offers a nice combination of Jaguar style, traditional British luxury car touches like wood, leather, and quietness, with every system in and under the car updated and improved to meet that very serious competition. The XK is equipped with a six-speed automatic with manual-shift capability via steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The one-touch paddles combined with drive-by-wire technology allow for faster gear changes. Used Jaguar XKs meet ULEV-II emissions requirements. The cabin is all about the driver, with body-hugging seats, good interior space and more headroom.  Keyless entry and a push-button start are possible with the Jaguar Smart Key system. A convertible version with a fabric roof is also offered. The original XK debuted in 1996.

Used Jaguar XKR

The Jaguar XKR is powered by a supercharged 4.2-liter V-8 under its hood. The 2007 model, available as a coupe or convertible, makes 420 hp. For 2007, the Jaguar XKR receives new mesh grille inserts, fog lights, larger wheels, four exhaust pipes and dual hood louvers. On the whole, this used Jaguar looks much like the XK on which it's based. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and the XKR can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.  The used Jaguar XKR is a light aluminum performance sports car and it maintains the luxury of the Jaguar name. Safety features include antilock brakes, hydraulic brake assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, run-flat tires and a Protec dynamic headrest system that guards against whiplash. This is one sports car that is fun to drive. It handles well and accelerates like a supercharged engine should.
